Desiree Tims was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. As a first-generation college student and public servant, she has the work ethic, experience, and tenacity it takes to make effective change in Washington. She shares our UAW values, and isn’t afraid to stand up for hardworking Ohio families.
WHY VOTE TIMS FOR CONGRESS?
SHE’S FIGHTING TO EXPAND ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE
Desiree is a strong advocate for providing a public health care option, so that all Americans can access the quality, affordable health care they deserve. She will fight to expand upon the Affordable Care Act, to protect coverage for individuals with preexisting conditions, and provide uninsured Americans a coverage option as well. She will also advocate to lower the price of prescription drugs, so that working families and seniors who need life-saving medications aren’t faced with poverty for filling their prescriptions.
SHE’S STRENGTHENING UNIONS AND SUPPORTING WORKERS
Desiree Tims is a loud advocate for labor unions, as she’s seen how they offer a support system for workers in her community. She will fight to protect the right of workers to collectively bargain for fairer pay, benefits and working conditions. She will also strongly oppose right-to-work laws and is dedicated to getting rid of them, so that workers can fairly fight for their rights.
SHE’S DEDICATED TO INCREASING EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES
As politicians in Washington attempt to move funding away from public education in favor of for-profit schools, Desiree has a plan to fight back. She will ensure that public school budgets are adequately funded to give teachers the pay they deserve, and offer resources to all students, no matter their zip code. She will fight to implement a universal preschool program to give children a step ahead in their education, preparing them for the future. She will also advocate to make a college education or secondary degree more affordable, removing barriers for Ohio residents looking to get ahead.
Desiree Tims has dedicated her career to fighting for working Ohio families. She isn’t afraid to stand up for residents of the 10th District. That’s why the UAW endorses Desiree Tims for Congress.
