Alaina has seen firsthand the devastating effects COVID-19 has had on her community. During the crisis, she has been committed to keeping her community informed by creating a comprehensive list of resources and services directly on her website. She has also dedicated herself to fighting to regrow Ohio’s economy after the pandemic, especially focusing on the small businesses that have been gravely impacted. She has a plan to reform taxes to ensure they’re more fairly distributed, and to bring new industries, like green energy, tech, and digital, to Ohio to rebuild the workforce.

SHE’S TACKLING HEALTH CARE REFORM
Alaina Shearer has witnessed firsthand the negative impacts of unaffordable health insurance. She is dedicated to fighting to stabilize and expand upon the Affordable Care Act, so that all Americans have access to the health care they deserve. She will fight to ensure individuals with preexisting conditions aren’t discriminated against, and that everyone can buy into a public plan if they choose. She will also work to create an income-based cap on out of pocket medical costs, like prescriptions, to ensure working families aren’t at risk of going bankrupt due to unaffordable care.

Alaina believes that labor unions are the backbone of America, and is dedicated to supporting them. She will fight to ensure workers are protected as they collectively bargain for fairer working conditions, benefits, and higher wages. She understands the role that unions play to elevate the middle class, and will ensure that the rights of workers are at the forefront of her decisions.
