As COVID-19 has severely impacted Michigan families, Jon has stood up to support them. He worked with his colleagues to pass $880 million in bipartisan COVID-19 relief funding. He co-sponsored a bill to provide emergency financial support to small businesses. He’s dedicated to ensuring that funding during this crisis is distributed to those in need, not just the wealthiest Americans and largest corporations, to get hardworking Michiganders back on their feet.

HE’S FIGHTING TO PROTECT SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE
As a State Legislator, Jon has seen firsthand how seniors are struggling to remain healthy and safe after retirement. He’s fought to protect Social Security and Medicare benefits, so that seniors can receive the quality resources they were promised. He built a bipartisan coalition to address the need for quality long-term care solutions for seniors in Michigan. He also sponsored a bill that would urge Congress to pass legislation allowing Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices, ensuring life-saving medications were affordable. He’ll continue to fight to ensure these sacred benefits are protected from cuts and privatization.

HE’S ADVOCATING FOR HEALTH CARE REFORM
Jon experienced firsthand how difficult our health care system was to navigate when his partner Kris was diagnosed with Multiple sclerosis. He is dedicated to reforming our healthcare system to ensure families can receive the medical care and prescription drugs they need, without facing poverty. He will fight to hold pharmaceutical and insurance companies accountable, so that individuals with preexisting conditions, or those who need life-saving prescriptions like insulin, get the quality care they deserve.
