During her time in the State House, Sara fought to block Medicare funding cuts, restored a low-cost drug program for over 2,000 Maine seniors, and fought to release $15 Million in funding to restore senior affordable housing resources.

Recognizing the shortage in skilled trade workers in the state, Sara championed the expansion of job training and education programs. These programs helped build Maine’s workforce, growing essential industries unique to the state and building new opportunities for Mainers to land good-paying jobs.

SARA INCREASED ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE AND QUALITY HEALTH CARE
Sara fought to increase access to affordable and quality health care in Maine. In the State House she worked tirelessly to expand Medicaid coverage to over 70,000 Mainers, and passed a bill that protected the healthcare of 225,000 Mainers with pre-existing conditions so that they would be covered no matter what happened on a federal level.

When a tax loophole was identified in Maine that prioritized out-of-state companies, Sara advocated for change. She fought to close the loophole, giving a tax break instead to local hardworking families and small businesses. She also worked across the aisle to champion a property tax relief program that offered relief to over 300,000 Maine families.
