Abby Finkenauer was born and raised in Dubuque County, Iowa. As the daughter of a union worker and youngest woman to ever flip a congressional seat, she has the work ethic and grit it takes to make actionable change in Washington. SHE’S FIGHTING TO PROTECT MEDICARE AND SOCIAL SECURITY
Abby understands that Social Security and Medicare benefits are vital protections promised to our seniors. She has fought against cuts and privatization efforts that leave our seniors vulnerable. She’s also advocated to strengthen Medicare benefits by voting to allow Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices, making life-saving prescriptions more affordable for our seniors. She’ll continue to ensure these sacred benefits are protected and strengthened so that seniors can retire with dignity.

SHE’S EXPANDING ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE
As health care plans were proposed in Iowa that directly discriminated against those with pre-existing conditions, Abby stood up for those impacted. She instead fought to increase access to quality health care in Iowa by allocating over $750,000 in funding to at risk health care centers in Northeast Iowa. In Washington she’s pledged to continue to make health care accessibility her priority. She’ll fight to ensure all Iowans have access to the quality care they require, and that the cost of care is affordable.

SHE’S TACKLING COVID-19 HEAD ON
Abby has been a loud advocate for Iowans as COVID-19 has gravely impacted them. At the beginning of the pandemic she outlined priorities to keep Iowans safe and protected. She introduced the Protecting Paychecks and Employees (PPE) Act, which allowed small businesses to use PPP funds to protect their employees. She introduced the Tenant Protection Notification Act of 2020 to ensure renters in Iowa were protected from evictions. She also voted for the CARES Act to ensure hospitals, frontline workers, and Iowan working families received the resources they needed to survive.
Abby Finkenauer has made working Iowan families her priority. She’s not afraid to stand up for residents of the 1st District. That’s why the UAW endorses Abby Finkenauer for Congress.
