ROY WILL EXPAND ACCESS TO MEDICAID

Roy has advocated to close the health care coverage gap. He is leading the fight to expand access to Medicaid, working to provide health care coverage to more than 500,000 North Carolinians, creating 40,000 new jobs and bringing $4 billion into North Carolina’s economy.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

During his first term as Governor, Roy passed the NC Job Ready initiative designed to help North Carolinans get good-paying, quality jobs. This initiative created a system to connect workers with job training programs, in turn building a skilled workforce for employers around the state.

ROY INVESTED IN NORTH CAROLINA’S TEACHERS

Roy understood that strengthening our education system meant supporting our teachers. He included a 9.1% increase to teacher pay over the next two years in his budget, ensuring every teacher in North Carolina received at least a 3% raise per year.

ROY EXPANDED FUNDING TO ADDRESS FAILING INFRASTRUCTURE

Roy understood that fixing failing infrastructure was a key component to ensuring North Carolina’s economy continued to grow. During his first term as Governor, he passed the Build NC Bond Act, a bi-partisan effort to push forward critical highway improvements that impacted the daily lives of North Carolinians.

ROY INCREASED HIGHER EDUCATION ACCESS FOR NORTH CAROLINIANS

With a goal of ensuring 2 million North Carolinians have a degree or credential beyond a high school diploma by 2030, Roy passed the My Future NC, and NC GROW (Getting Ready for Opportunities in the Workforce) initiatives. These initiatives created a financial aid and scholarship program giving more North Carolinians the access and ability to pursue a community college degree or skilled trade program than ever before.

ROY FOUGHT TO REVITALIZE RURAL COMMUNITIES

North Carolina has 80 counties that are considered rural, making up a big portion of the state. Roy proposed creating the Rural Investments Strengthening Economies (RISE) Program, which incentivized companies to locate or expand their businesses to these rural areas, boosting the economy and revitalizing these communities.
