Christy has been dedicated to supporting her community as the COVID-19 pandemic has negatively impacted their health and safety. As a member of the California State Assembly, she has helped pass bipartisan legislation aimed at ensuring resources are allocated to individuals, non-profits, businesses and schools reeling from the pandemic. She also personally secured and distributed over 500 face masks protecting the most vulnerable in her community, and worked with her office to quickly provide constituents the critical resources and information they needed.

Christy Smith is a loud advocate for affordable health care. Her family was directly affected by the negative impacts of expensive health care when her terminally ill mother was unable to afford the care and prescriptions she needed. She will fight to reduce costs and barriers to health care, ensuring that all Californians have access to the health care they need regardless of their situation. She will fight to shine a light on the unaffordable costs of prescriptions and treatment, so that families aren’t faced with poverty from a medical emergency or illness.

As crucial senior benefits are jeopardized in Washington, Christy is committed to fighting back. She has pledged to defend Medicare and Social Security from attacks that threaten to cut budgets and privatize them. She will ensure that California seniors can retire with access to the benefits they were promised, and that those benefits adequately protect their health and stability.
